Doris Jean Rogers

Doris Jean Rogers, 79, of Lawrenceville, IL (formerly of Patoka, IN) passed away Tuesday December 8, 2009 at the United Methodist Village North Campus.She was born June 2, 1930 in Lawrenceville, IL the daughter of Jesse Elmer and Nellie (Marcum) Adams. In 1948 she married Billy Lou Rogers. He preceded her in death in 1992.Surviving are 3 sons: Everett Buddy Rogers of Princeton, IN, Philip Dean Rogers of Rockwall, TX, Richard William Rogers of Evansville, IN, a daughter: Billie Marlene Wilson of Vincennes, IN, 3 sisters: Mary Reel of Lawrenceville, IL, Donna Wells of Bridgeport, IL, Betty Wiend of Quaker Town, PA, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchidlren. 2 infant sisters Anna Elizabeth and Margaret Pauline Adams, are deceased, along with 2 brothers Everett William and Larry Lee.Doris Jean worked as a switchboard operator for the Lawrenceville Telephone Company and also for the Gibson County General Hospital in Princeton, IN. She was a graduate of Lawrence Township High School. She was a member of the Patoka United Methodist Church.The funeral will be Friday at 2:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation is also Friday from 1:00 until the service hour of 2:00pm.Memorial donations may be given to the Patoka United Methodist Church Endowment Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
