Donald D. Young

Donald D. Young, age 80, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.  He was born September 2, 1935, in Knox County, Indiana, the son of Arvle and Helen (Utterback) Young.  He married Nancy Steffey on October 19, 1956 and she died February 17, 2005. Don worked for Meadow Gold Creamery and then Texaco Refinery until his retirement.  He attended Birds Free Methodist Church and Decker Chapel United Methodist Church. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He enjoyed his grandson, Nicholas, spending time with his family, as well as gardening and woodworking. Preceding Don in death were his parents, his wife Nancy, and one brother Leroy. Survivors include a daughter, Twila Jacobs and husband David of Vincennes, Indiana; two brothers, Wayne Young of Vincennes, Indiana and Jim Young and wife Julia of Poland, Indiana; three sisters, Mildred "Mid" Walters and husband Darrell of Decker, Indiana, Jane Fuller and husband Eldon of Vincennes, Indiana, and Phyllis Helderman of Paris, Illinois and one grandson, Nicholas Jacobs. Funeral services will be at 1 PM (CST) Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM (CST) Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
