Donald E. Miller, 80, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born January 9, 1936 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Max Miller and Juanita Sapp Brothers. He first married Lynda Wilson and then later married Joyce Ellerman on February 14, 2001. Donald worked at Texaco Refinery and was a bartender at the VFW and American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, 40 & 8, and Marine Corp League. He was a past commander of the VFW and American Legion; as well as a marine veteran in the Korean War. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Steve Miller; step-daughter, Brenda Hoover; brother, Gerald Miller; and sister, Wilma Rose. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; son, David Miller of Palestine, Illinois; daughter, Mary Hightshoe and husband, Les, of Hutsonville, Illinois; step-son, Tony Hoover and wife, Susan, of Vincennes, Indiana; step-daughters, Tammy Lovins and husband, Dave, of Avon, Indiana and Carol Carmean and husband, Scott, of Vincennes, Indiana; brothers, Ronnie Miller and wife, Carolyn of Missouri and Mike Miller and wife, Tammy, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; sisters, Wanda Kline of Hammond, Indiana, Debra Frye of Olney, Illinois, and Pam Hall and husband, Mike, of Ohio; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and first wife, Lynda Wilson of Palestine, Illinois. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites.
