Donald E. Lewis

Donald E. Lewis October 31, 1931 - July 2, 2013 Donald E. Lewis, age 81, of rural Sumner, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Burgin Manor in Olney, Illinois. He was born October 31, 1931 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Earnest and Elva Alice (Corrie) Lewis. He married Patricia Smith on October 15, 1950. Don began his working career with West Drilling Company with oil drilling operations in the tri-state area. He then went to work for Ross A. Moore Excavation (now known as Moore Brothers) and ended his career working as a production superintendant for Marathon Oil Company. Don also worked as a farmer and oilfield equipment operator. Don was a member of Bethlehem Congregational Christian Church. He also belonged to a camping club known as the Holiday Ramblers. He served on the Bridgeport High School Board and Lukin School Board. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Patty, of rural Sumner; two sons Rick Lewis (Pam) of rural Sumner and James Cameron "J.C."Lewis also of rural Sumner; one daughter Deanna Bennett (Ronnie) of rural Sumner; and two grandchildren Cody Lewis and Cameron Lewis. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Wegener Foundation with envelopes available through the funeral home. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
