Dona Holmes

Dona Lee (Routien) Holmes, age 51, of rural Flat Rock, IL passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born September 12, 1959 in Lawrenceville, IL the daughter of Robert "Newt" Routien and Carroll (Qualkinbush) Scales. She married Ronald Holmes May 23, 1981. Dona worked at Rucker's Candy in Bridgeport and previously worked at McKim's IGA in the deli. Dona's life was her children and grandchildren. Dona was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband Ronald of rural Flat Rock; her mother Carroll Scales of Lawrenceville; two daughters Leah Miller and husband A.J. and their daughter Lilly of Flat Rock and Sarah Holmes and son Weston of Flat Rock; one step-daughter Stacey O'Neal of Conyers, GA and her two children Gage and Baylee Holmes; three brothers Trent and wife Janette Routien of Robinson, Scott Routien of Charleston and Daniel Wells of Lawrenceville. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Dona's wishes were to be cremated following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Disabled Veterans with envelopes available through the funeral home.
