David Ray Stevenson, 62, died with his wife at his side early morning Sunday, October 11th at a family residence in Maryville, IL. David was born in Vincennes, IN March 13th, 1947 to Bertis Stevenson who preceded him in death and Jean Gosnell Stevenson who lives with her husband George Mullins in Lawrenceville, IL. David is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, and soul mate, Judy Stevenson, married December 29th, 1989. David and Judy made their home and life together in the quiet town of Lawrenceville, IL for 15 years, and have enjoyed the last four years residing in Gerald, MO. David is survived by 2 daughters, 1 son, and 6 grandchildren: Lisa Dennings (Drake, Jordan), OâFallon, MO; Sherri and Tom Dickerman (Tyler, Landon, Destiny), Cedarhill, MO; Brad and Shannon Stevenson (Maddox), Decatur, GA. Davidâs sister, Wilma Williams, and her husband, Larry, live in Dodge City, KS. Davidâs brother, Don Kimmel, resides in Panama City Beach, FL. David is also survived by 4 stepsons and 9 step grandchildren: Steve and Karen Perry (Matthew, Sarah, Rachel, Rebekah) Collinsville, IL; Roger and Stephanie Perry (Paige, Kate, Laine), Bloomington, IL; Bryan and Robin Perry (Megan, Brett), Coto de Caza, CA; and David and Kelly Perry, Maryville, IL. David had a passion for preaching and gave the gift of council and ministry to hundreds of parishioners over the years. He was a sincere and genuine man, always willing to listen. He gave his time, guidance, and support to anyone that needed his help. Most recently David was the Sr. Pastor at Antioch Christian Church, Leslie, MO; New Hope Christian Church, Bridgeport, IL; and Rising Sun Christian Church, Lawrenceville, IL. David was also called as the Associate Minister of Youth at Central Church of Christ, Mt. Vernon, IL; past Vice President of Ministerial Alliance, Mt. Vernon, IL; and past member of the Lawrence County Hospital Board. David cherished spending time with his family, and playing with Max and Mitzi, David and Judyâs little Shih tzu dogs. David also loved to cruise around the yard on his fancy John Deer tractor, played Rock Band bass guitar with style, was an expert Wii Bowler, and loved his Rock N Roll. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday, October 13th at the Emmons Macey Steffey Funeral Home, 1303 12th Lawrenceville, IL. Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday at New Hope Christian Church in Lawrenceville, IL with burial to follow at Cresthaven Cemetery. David Stevenson made the world a better place. He loved people, sincerely cared, was the best of listeners, and no matter what; you could always count on David to send you home with a hug.  He will be truly missed.
