Daniel J. Mitchell

Daniel J. Mitchell Jr., age 88, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the United Methodist Village. He was born November 16, 1927 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Daniel Sr. and Olivia (Cook) Mitchell. He married Carnetta ‘Connie' Mangum and she preceded him in death.   Daniel was a custodian at the Lawrenceville United Methodist Church and General Telephone; as well as a full time minister and was active in many churches. Prior to the ministry, he was a Sunday school superintendent and directed the Gospel Chorus. He was also a veteran in the Army. Preceding Daniel in death were his parents; his wife; one brother, William; and one sister, Dorothy. Survivors include his daughter, Danetta Heidebreicht of Cane Ridge, Tennessee and one grandson, Jacob Mitchell. The funeral service will be Friday, July 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Portee Cemetery with military rights by the VFW. Memorial donations may be given to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
