Clarence E. Sholders

Biography Clarence E. Sholders, age 76, of Bridgeport, IL passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, IL. He was born July 12, 1936 in Petty Township, the son of Emerson Fred and Evelyn Birdie (Strange) Sholders. He married Carolyn Sue (McClain) Doyle on October 28, 1962 and she preceded him in death on June 16, 1999. Clarence retired from CSX Railroad after 29 years of employment. He also worked as a barber in Lawrence County from 1960 until he retired in 2010. Clarence attended the Bridgeport First United Methodist Church. He served in the National Guard, was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, and also a 32nd Degree Mason. His parents and his wife preceded Clarence in death. Survivors include three sons Kenneth Doyle and wife Donnetta, Jim Doyle and wife Debra, and Rob Sholders and wife Barbi, all of rural Lawrenceville; nine grandchildren, Lindsay Doyle, Jessica Doyle, Cory Doyle, Tifty Jones, Allison Jackson, Dillon Doyle, Blake Sholders, Dalton Sholders and Kourtney Sholders, and two great-grandchildren Keely Breen and Hadley Johnson. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with burial to follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
