Clarence E. Buchanan, 85, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday January 2, 2011 peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born February 8, 1925 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Victor Clarence and Ann (Porter) Buchanan. He married Bernice Gray on November 14, 1946 and she survives.Also surviving are two sons: Mark Buchanan of Lawrenceville, IL, John (Brenda) Buchanan of Bridgeport, IL, three daughters: JoanE (Scott) Sibert of Jerseyville, IL, Anita (Doug) York of Lawrenceville, IL, Ellen (Richard) Vandermark of Lawrenceville, IL, six grandchildren: Jason Sibert, Jeremy Sibert, Joshua Sibert, Chase Vandermark, Abbie York Cochran, Sally York, and four great-grandchildren. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Victor Wayne Buchanan.Clarence owned and operated Buchanan Farms and Buchanans Peach Orchard. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church where he was very active. He was a board member and Past President of Farm Bureau, board member of Prairie Farms, board member of the Lawrence Township Library, board member of the ASCS Office, member of the National Milk Producers, and active with CROP. (Christian Rural Overseas Program)The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00pm at the Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00pm at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Zion United Methodist Church or to CROP with envelopes available at the funeral home.
