Cindy Merrell

Cindy Merrell, 54, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Monday December 15, 2014 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was born May 22, 1960 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Larry and Ethel (Hampton) Umfleet. On May 7, 1988 she married John Merrell. He survives. Cindy had worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Hickory Estates in Sumner, IL. She was a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville, IL. Along with her husband, she is survived by a son: John David Merrell of Sumner, IL, a daughter: Jessica Marie (husband Josh) DeVoss of Greenwood, IN, two brothers: David Cowger of Columbia, MO, Randy Umfleet, a sister: Laura Shearer of Ft Wayne, IN, and a grandchild. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00am at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Sumner Cemetery. Visitation is also Wednesday from 10:00 until the service hour of 11:00am. Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
