Chester 'Chet' L. Mowrey

Chester L. "Chet" Mowrey, age 83, of Lawrenceville, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born September 2, 1930, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Joseph James and Helen Emma (Fitzer) Mowrey. He married Marilyn Stout on May 4, 1957, and she survives. Chet worked at J.C. Penney for 37 years until retirement. He attended First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. His memberships include the Wabash Valley Bass Club and American Legion. He enjoyed bass fishing. Chet was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having served four years during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Lawrenceville, two daughters: Suzanne Davison (David) of Vincennes, Indiana and Cynthia Condiff (Chuck) of Fort Branch, Indiana, and two grandchildren: Zachary Davison and Chelsea Condiff. Preceding Chet in death were his parents and one sister. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
