Biography
Charles E. Marx, 84, of Lawrenceville, IL (formerly of Sumner, IL) passed away Friday evening March 16, 2012 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville.
He was born April 1, 1927 in Sumner, IL the son of Charles M. Marx and Ruth M. (Coffin) Ledeker. On October 22, 1950 he married Kathryn I. Blackwell. She survives.
Charles worked as an auto body repairman for 40 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Sumner. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was a 32nd Degree Mason member of Sumner Lodge #334 in Sumner, and the Danville, IL Lodge. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans as well as Sons of Union Veterans.
Along with his wife, he is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Marge and Russell Vaughn of Robinson, IL, Charles and Barbara Duncan of Olney, IL, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00am at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. . Burial will follow at the Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 8:00pm with a Masonic Service at 7:30. Visitation will also be from 9:00 until the service hour of 10:00 Tuesday.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
