Charles T. Kemp

Charles T. Kemp September 19, 1932 - December 14, 2013 Charles T. Kemp, age 81, of rural Sumner passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Ridgeview Care Facility in Oblong, Illinois. He was born September 19, 1932, in Red Bay, Alabama, the son of Brady W. and Bernice (Walls) Kemp. He married Loeize Anderson on May 2, 1949, and she died August 28, 2008. Charles retired after 29 years as a Church of God minister. He was a member of the Chauncey Church of God and the Chauncey Community Club. Charles was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. Preceding Charles in death were his parents; his wife Loeize; two infant brothers and one infant sister. Survivors include one son Timothy Charles Kemp (Brenda) of Edwardsville, Illinois; one daughter Kathy Melinda Bowers (Cliff) of Sumner, Illinois; one brother Danny R. Kemp (Denise) of Red Bay, Alabama; four grandchildren Kami James of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Rhonda Shoulders of Bridgeport, Illinois, Hannah Kemp of Edwardsville, Illinois and Nicole Harris of Granite City, Illinois; and five great-grandchildren Legend Lewis of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Corbin Shoulders and Wyatt Shoulders both of Bridgeport, Illinois, Caleb Harris and Aden Harris, both of Granite City, Illinois. A Celebration of Life Service will be held March 8, 2014, at the Chauncey Church of God.
