Charles Bales

Charles "Charlie" Bales, age 81, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 24, 2016.  He was born to Walter and Ruth (Toland) Bales on December 31, 1934, just before midnight in Pratt County, Kansas. Charles was raised on a farm near Byers, Kansas and graduated from Greenville College. He is survived by his children: Bruce Bales and wife Lisa of Tucker, Georgia, Irwin Bales and wife Marsha of St. Francisville, Illinois; his step-children: Jane Maphet of Pratt, Kansas, Terry Beard and wife Deanna of Wichita, Kansas, Tracie Carrigan and husband Paul of Olathe, Kansas; one brother, Gerald and wife Lula Bales of Iuka, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceding Charles in death were his parents, his second wife, Monna Jo, his brother Marvin and one grandson. There are no local services. A memorial service will be conducted in Pratt, Kansas at a later date.
