Cecil Dale Carie

Cecil Dale Carie Jr., 69, of rural Sumner, IL passed away Friday July 17, 2015 at his residence. He was born August 30, 1945 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Cecil Dale and Nelda (Crouch) Carie-Selby. On March 16, 1968 he was married to Effie Earnest in Sumner, IL. She survives. Cecil worked as an over the road truck driver for Lease Way Transportation for 13 years. He also worked for Larry Modessit Trucking in Olney, IL for three years, Coca Cola for three years, and Ryder Truck Rental for seven years as shop Foreman. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW in Lawrenceville, the American Legion in Lawrenceville, the Bridgeport Moose, and Eastern Star. Cecil enjoyed working with cattle and horses and his dogs. Along with his wife Effie, Cecil is survived by two sons: Cecil Carie III and his fiancé Amy Shields of Lawrenceville, IL, Anthony Carie and his fiancé Donna Seals of Sumner, IL, a daughter: Crystal Carie-Stanley and her fiancé Chris Daugherty of Sumner, IL, a sister: Connie Curtis and her husband Bill of Winchester, KY, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father: Alvin Selby, and brother: Donald Carie. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Petty/Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the family.
