Cathy Jo Gentry

Cathy Jo Gentry Flowers, 61, a former area resident, passed away on Saturday, April 5th at the Community Hospice Center for Caring, 5450 Ramona Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL. Born February 5, 1953 in Lawrenceville, Illinois she was the daughter of James Gentry and Betty Fiscus Gentry. Cathy was reunited in marriage to John Flowers in November 1973 in Newton, Illinois. February 5, 1975 Cathy's husband John was killed in a construction accident. Cathy continued to live in the Olney area and worked in the healthcare field for several years. After the death of her brother-in-law in 1999 Cathy moved to the Jacksonville, Florida area to be with her sister Jackie McHaffie. Cathy attended Sumner grade and high school. Survivors include her son Nathan and wife Marcie, grandsons John and Ian all of Hidalgo, Illinois, a sister Jackie McHaffie of Orange Park, FL., four brothers Russell and wife Wendy of Gulf Shores, AL, Rex and Barbara of Sumner, IL Chuck and Pam of Hector, MN and Dennis of Tulsa, OK, and several nieces and nephews. Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and husband John. Cathy was the care taker of the family. Anytime someone was sick or needed any help Cathy was the first one to help. Cathy is going to be missed by family and friends. Memorial services will be Friday afternoon 5:30 pm at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, Sumner, IL. Friends may call 3:00 to 5:30p.m. on Friday.
