Carolynn Royce (Bevers) Meredith, 79, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at the United Methodist Village, North Campus in Lawrenceville, IL, in the presence of her loving husband, children, and caring UMVNC nurse, Peggy.
Carolynn was born February 19, 1937 in Bakersfield, CA to Leroy and Vivian (Klingenberg) Bevers, the second of four daughters. When Carolynn met Joe Martyn Meredith, a Marine, it was love at first sight! They soon married, and their marriage was blessed with five children.
Over her lifetime, Carolynn was employed as a bookkeeper, homemaker, Title Abstractor, and pastor's wife. She volunteered in her children's elementary schools. She was a wonderful cook for her family of seven, loved to grow flowers, and enjoyed being a watercolor artist, especially painting flowers. When the family moved to Waldron, AR, Carolynn adapted to country life. She made the very best wild plum, blackberry and Muscadine Jams in the world! She learned to make fried okra, and froze the bounty of the huge garden that Joe planted. She learned to pasteurize fresh goat milk from their goats.
Through the years, Carolynn attended Fruitvale Community Bible Church in CA, Pilot Prairie Cumberland Presbyterian Church in AR, Community Bible Church in Waldron, AR, Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, in Low Point, IL, and the last, Allison Prairie Church of the Brethren, in Lawrenceville, IL, where she felt so loved.
Preceding her in death are her parents and sister, Dianne Wilson.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Martyn Meredith of Lawrenceville, IL; son, Joe Meredith, Jr., of Washburn, IL; and daughters, Tamara Meredith of Pekin, IL; Kim Meredith of Woodstock GA; Stacey Briggs of Colorado Springs, CO; and Julie Daily and husband, Curtis, of Lynchburg, VA; as well as sisters, Ruth Stenger and husband, Fred and Gail Vorhees and husband, Charles. She leaves thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
