Carl W. Roark

Carl W. Roark July 7, 1935 - April 27, 2013 Carl W. Roark Jr., 77, of rural Sumner, IL passed away Saturday April 27, 2013 at his residence. He died after a brief illness with esophageal cancer. He was born July 7, 1935 near Bicknell, IN the son of Carl W. and Jessie M. (White) Roark Sr. On August 13, 1961 he married Betty Sartor. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter: Carla Jo Roark of rural Sumner, IL, daughter: Mary Ann Lane of Olney, IL, a son: Carl and his wife Donna Roark of Dundas, IL, grandchildren: Joseph and Matthew Lane, and Emma , Abigail, and Sara Roark. He worked as a farmer, rural mail carrier, a carpenter and a bus driver for the Unit 10 School District. He was a member of the Prairieton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading and gardening. He handcrafted Dulcimer's and other stringed instruments and also enjoyed all kinds of woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter: Rita Jill Roark. The funeral will be Wednesday 1:00pm at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00pm.
