Carl Leon Cunningham, 87 of Belpre, OH died December 7, 2009 at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Lawrenceville, IL and was the son of the late John Ervine Cunningham and the late Eva Marie Cunningham Kepple.  He was a 1941 graduate of Sumner High School, joined the Army, was a WWII army Air Corp Veteran and flew B-17 bombers from 1944 till February of 1945, having flown 25 missions as a co-pilot and Formation Control Officer.  He received several metals, one being the DFC and was released as a Captain.  He retired from Elkem Metals after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Cunningham, one son Craig Leslie Cunningham and his wife Marilyn of Belpre, two daughters, Angie Cunningham of Belpre, OH, Carla Montgomery and her husband Clay of Pennsicola, FL, grandchildren Curt Cunningham of Belpre and Leslie Jo Cunningham of Parkersburg.  Also surviving are two sisters Esther Brumley of Lawrenceville, IL, Betty Tharp of Mt. Carmel, IL and his half-sister Mary Ellen Hamilton of Mt. Carmel, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Pat Cunningham, his aunt and uncle who raised him, Omer and Grace Cunningham. Services will be at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL on Friday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Don Tharp officiating.  Burial will follow  in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg, WV 26102 in memory of Mindy and Princess.   Â
