Bob Christy

Bob Christy, age 80, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at his residence. He was born January 12, 1933, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of James Lewis and Minnie Viola (Allen) Christy. He married Wildas Hill on March 25, 1956. Bob owned and operated Christy Texaco Service in Lawrenceville for 21 years. He then worked 21 years for Illinois Gas Company. Following his retirement from Illinois Gas Company, he worked as a guard for Texaco Refinery and then as security for Mid-American Air Center. Bob was an Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed all areas of automotive work. Survivors include his wife, Wildas, of rural Lawrenceville; one daughter Peggy (Dan) Frederick of rural Lawrenceville; one son Bob (Kristi) Christy of rural Sumner; and three grandchildren Riley Christy, Dana Frederick, and Kaleb Christy. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers George, Grover, Clarence and an infant brother, and two sisters Ruby Satterthwaite and Ermel Saums. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
