Billy Glenn Griffin born in Lawrence County, IL on March 1, 1935 to William Griffin and Sylvia Novall Griffin. Billy was called home to his Lord on August 10, 2011. Billy graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1954. He worked as a first mate on tow boats on the Illinois River for over 20 years. After retirement, Billy purchased a farm in Crawford County which he operated until the time of his death.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers: Leo "Mike" Griffin, Emro "Dutch" Griffin, Maurice "Speck" Griffin, and James P. Griffin; a sister: Bonnie Griffin Kenderdine, and infant brother and sister: Burner, and Elizabeth Griffin.
Surviving Billy are his sister: Beulah A. Griffin of Robinson, IL, brother: Jesse Griffin of Bridgeport, IL, sisters-in-law: Wenona Griffin of Pinkstaff, IL, and Earlene Griffin Snodgrass of Lawrenceville, IL as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday September 24, 2011 at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
Visitation will also be Saturday form 12:00pm until the service hour of 2:00pm.
Burial; will be at the Pollard Cemetery. Lifelong friend, T. Gene Hawkins will speak at the Graveside Service.
Memorial donations may be given to "Project Linus" with envelopes available at the funeral home.
