Betty L. Rigg

Betty L. Rigg, age 82, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away Sunday November 18, 2012 at United Methodist Village-North Campus. She was born January 20, 1930 in Carmi, IL, the daughter of Parvin R. and Bonnie (Chastain) Smith. She married Samuel D. Rigg on July 27, 1946, and he died February 20, 2007. Betty worked as a waitress at the Candlelite Restaurant. She and her husband owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Bridgeport and Lawrenceville. She attended Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Sam. Survivors include one daughter Diana Lynn Scherer of Bridgeport, three grandchildren Stacey (Chad) Andrews of rural Lawrenceville, Wendy (Tyler) Warren of Lawrenceville, and Justin (Jodi) Scherer of Bridgeport, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Camille Andrews, Cailyn Andrews, Laci Wirth, Dallas Winkles, Cody Croslow, Nicklaus Scherer and Maci Scherer. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Adams Corner Cemetery in Wabash County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
