Betty L. Poland

Betty L. Poland age 85 of Olney,Illinois, a former Sumner, Illinois resident passed away Friday, December 02, 2011 at the Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. She was born July 21, 1926 in Sumner, Illinois the daughter of Zelus and Velveteen "Dolly" Marx Berry. She married Ray A. Poland on June 12, 1945 and he preceded her in death on September 01, 1999. Betty worked as a clerk at the Stout Hardware which was located in Sumner,Il. She was also a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, and was a collector of depression glass and coins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Lee and Dale, a sister in law:Elva Berry, two grandchildren: Christopher Poland and Scott Poland, and one granddaughter in law Kerri Redman. Survivors include her son Dennis and wife Sandra of Olney,Il., one daughter Cathy Redman and husband Russell of Olney,Illinois , one brother Samuel Berry of Lawrenceville,Il. Five grandchildren survive: Jennifer Poland and friend Gary Sisk, Nicholas Poland, Cindy Mashburn and husband Jerry, Sue Davis, William Redman. Six greatgrandchildren: Julianna Mashburn, Daimon Mashburn, Brooke Davis, Jozlyn Redman, Tyler Poland, Camden Poland. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (12-6-2011) at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner,Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday morning 10:00 a.m. till the service hour of 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Sumner City Cemetery.
