Betty Joan

Betty Joan Cox, age 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the United Methodist Village-North Campus. She was born December 13, 1934, in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Israel and Mildred (Harvey) Cox. Joan grew up in Lawrenceville. She spent most of her adult life in Crown Point, Indiana and worked as a bookkeeper for Haire Machine Company. After retirement she moved back to Lawrenceville. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and reading. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville. Joan's parents preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Scott (Dawn) Mullins of Houston, Texas; a daughter Leigh (Charlie) Smith of Carmel, Indiana; one sister Janet Cox of Tuscola, Illinois and three grandchildren Elizabeth Oatman, Matthew Smith, and Audrey Mullins. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:30 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
