Betty B. Hesher, age 88, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, November 03, 2022 at Willow Manor in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on August 27, 1934 in St. Francisville, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Bernice (Horsting) Ruppel. She married Donald Hesher on April 18, 1953, and he preceded her in death on July 02, 2001.

Betty moved to Lawrenceville in 1973. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Hesher’s Sporting Goods in Lawrenceville, H&H Hallmark in Lawrenceville, The Scoop in Lawrenceville, and Lovin Stuff in Vincennes. She also worked at First Bank, which is now People’s State Bank, until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, babysitting her grandchildren, and attending family sporting events.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; three brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include two children, Pamela Preston and husband, Michael and David Hesher and wife, Brenda all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; four sisters, Rita Doll and husband, Charles, Janet Hess and husband, Robert, Virginia Donaldson and husband, Steve, and Linda Ruppel all of Vincennes, Indiana; four grandchildren, LeighAnn Cook and husband, Brian, Lindsey Vennard and husband, Levi, Laura Zehner and husband, Andy, and Jenna Preston all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and nine great-grandchildren, Drew Wilson, Katie Cook, Courtney Cook, Eli Vennard, Isaac Vennard, Syndey Mack, Sophia Mack, Avery Zehner, and Emery Zehner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, November 07, 2022 at 10:00 AM CST at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 1006 Collins Avenue in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM CST at the church. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
