Bessie G. Gowin

Bessie G. Gowin, 83, of Flat Rock, IL passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Lawrence Community Health Care in Bridgeport, IL. She was born March 5, 1929 in Lawrence County, IL. the daughter of Vernon and Della (Scritchfield) Tomlinson. February 18, 1967 she married Jesse Eugene Gowin and survives. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, a brother and three sisters are deceased. Bessie worked at Champion Laboratory's in West Salem, IL several years ago. She also worked as a nurse's aide at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Flat Rock Christian Church in Flat Rock, IL. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00pm at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, IL. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Whitehouse Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Flat Rock Christian Church.
