Arnold L. Stevenson

Arnold L. Stevenson, 83, of Bridgeport, IL passed away Saturday July 12, 2014 at the United Methodist Village North Campus. He was born September 24, 1930 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Veris A. and Lorene (Akers) Stevenson. He married Darlene Green and she preceded him in death. He then married Betty J. Gray on March 3, 1961 and she survives. Arnold retired as Maintenance Supervisor at Texaco after 35 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church. He served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Elks where he served two terms as Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the Moose. Arnold will be remembered for his sense of humor and storytelling. His favorite times were spent with family and friends, and especially fishing at Kentucky Lake. Along with his wife Betty, he is survived by three sons: Gary and his wife Susan Stevenson of Lakeland, FL, Keith and his wife Carolynn Stevenson of Vincennes, IN, Jack and his wife Linda Senger of Sumner, IL, two daughters: Cathy and her husband Steve Smith of Albion, IL, Trudy and her husband Phil Benefiel of Mt. Carmel, IL, a brother: Don Stevenson of Danville, IL, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 5:00 until 7:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
