Anna E. Joiner

Anna E. Joiner, age 87, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born October 8, 1927, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Willard and Fannie (Casey) Anderson. She married Ernest "Newt" Joiner on February 8, 1954, and he died January 10, 2007. Anna worked in the kitchen at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital when it first opened. She later worked at Lawrenceville Industries and Golden Rule Insurance. Anna attended Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. She was a member of St. James AME Church in Lawrenceville. Preceding Anna in death were her parents; her husband Newt; one son Mark Joiner and one daughter Melody Love. Survivors include one granddaughter, Nicole Love; three brothers Harry Anderson, Victor (Lois) Anderson and Carl Dean (Ginger) Anderson all of rural Lawrenceville and two sisters Virginia Hardiman of Robinson and Irene (Donnie) Morris of Princeton, IN. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Portee Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital with envelopes available through the funeral home.
