Alice W. Byers

Alice W. Byers September 15, 1930 - November 27, 2011 Alice Wing Byers, age 81, of rural Lawrenceville passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born September 15, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Allan and Linna (Rose) Wing. She married Paul Byers, September 3, 1949 and he survives. Alice worked as a librarian and teacher in Waukegan, IL. She served as a Girl Scout leader for 25 years and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for 31 years where she served as an elder. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women and the Mariners in Mission. Alice was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Paul of rural Lawrenceville; four daughters Karen Byers, Marcia Julian and her husband Joseph, and Janice Byers all of Waukegan, IL, as well as Nancy Figgins of Lenexa, KS; one brother Richard Wing; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the service hour of 2:00 pm at the church. Burial of cremains will be in Antioch cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Marion Medical Mission or the American Cancer Society.
