Stanton Jurgens Obituary

Stan Jurgens passed away, Saturday, October 05, 2019 going to join his wife Patricia who died April 11, 2010. Stan was born July 03, 1936 to Clarence and Catherine Jurgens in Elgin, Illinois. He attended the Elgin schools, graduating from Elgin High School in 1954. He then attended the University of Illinois before transferring to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy where he graduated and became a registered pharmacist in 1962, and returned to Elgin, Illinois. He married Patricia Carroll Campbell, September 03, 1960 with whom he had two children, Tamara and Jeffrey.

The family moved from Elgin to Lawrenceville in 1972 where Stan worked and later owned Studley's Rexall Drugstore. He also maintained the pharmacy at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital for many of those same years retiring in 2001.
Stan and Pat enjoyed designing and maintaining the landscaping around their home on Maple Street. Together they traveled extensively to 38 of the states and parts of Canada. Their favorite destination was Branson, Missouri where they visited 24 times.

Stan was a member of the Kappa Psi National Pharmacy Fraternity, Illinois Pharmacist Assoc., American Pharmacist Assoc., an Endowment member of the NRA, the Illinois State Rifle Assoc., Ducks Unlimited, Wildlife Forever and past president of the Lawrenceville Rotary Club.

Preceding Stan in death were his wife and parents.

He is leaving his children Tamara and husband John Gamrat, Jeffrey and wife Hope Jurgens, grandchildren Cody Jurgens and wife Abby and their children Porter and Keightley Jurgens, Chris Jurgens and wife Katie, One sister Carol (Jon) Gust and a brother, Clinton( Linda) Jurgens, a brother in law David ( Cheryl) Carroll and a sister in law Nancy Carroll Taber and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a committal service for Stan and Patricia Jurgens on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations in Stan's memory may be made to the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital or Lawrence County Humane Society. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
