Shirley Angle Obituary
Shirley M. Angle, 78, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born April 19, 1939 in Thackeray, Illinois, the daughter of Everett and Leathie (Funkhouser) Allen. She married Richard D. Angle on November 17, 1956 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2013.
Shirley worked as a cook at Casey's General Store for ten plus years. She attended Island Free Methodist Church and was active in the Lawrence County Democrats. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, Facebooking, and spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Richard; five brothers; four sisters; one daughter, Deana Akers; and one grandson, Bradly Petrick.
Survivors include one son, Robert Angle and wife, Kim, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one daughter, Sheila Johnston and husband, John, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; three sisters, Louise Evans of East Peoria, Illinois, Betty Thomas of Plano, Illinois, and Virginia Bell of Morton, Illinois; son-in-law, Jimmie Akers and wife, Anita, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Heather Doty, Justin Akers, Brad Akers, Amanda Boze, Morgan Angle, Jacob Angle, Lacie Angle, Jordan Huffman, Preston Johnston, Mason Johnston, Johnny Johnston, and Charlie Johnston; 22 great-grandchildren; and her faithful companion, Cee Cee.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Petty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the Island Free Methodist Church Food Pantry.
