Shannon Darnell Obituary
Shannon M. Darnell, 35, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born June 1, 1982 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Mark Montgomery and Toni Hobbs Hart. She married Jeremy Darnell on June 9, 2001 and he survives.
Shannon was a CSR at BridgePoint Healthcare in Vincennes, Indiana; where she handled marketing and administrations. She was a member of the Knox County Gerontology and the Vincennes Rotary Club. She served on the Lawrenceville City Council and was a member of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. She was the innovator and created ‘The Great Lawrence County Scavenger Hunt', which she organized and directed for the last six years. She oversaw the scavenger hunt from start to finish. It was important to her that proceeds went back to the community to help others. Through her active membership with the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, she jumped at the opportunity to revitalize the Lawrenceville Teen Center. She wanted the youth to have a clean, fun, safe place to be together and enjoy themselves. She, along with other members, cleaned, maintained, and organized the center; as well as worked whatever events were held.
She loved fishing with her family and friends, camping, and being involved with her children's sporting events and functions. Wherever her children were, she was. She always wanted to help others. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her laughter, her smile, her love, and her personality. She was a true genuine person and a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She was loved by all that knew her.
Preceding her in death were grandparents, Ross Montgomery and Arlene Hobbs.
Survivors include her husband, Jeremy; children, Emily and Dillon; parents Mark Montgomery and wife, Debbie of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Toni Hobbs Hart and husband, Terry, of Billett, Illinois; brother, Brayden Hart and nephew, Lucas, of Billett, Illinois; paternal grandparents, Ken and Ann Kiser of Lawrenceville, Illinois; maternal grandfather, Jerry Hobbs of Lawrenceville, Illinois; in-laws, David and Jeannie Darnell of Bridgeport, Illinois; sister-in-law, Jessica Kirkwood, husband, Conner, and nephew, Blaize, of Bridgeport, Illinois; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM CST at the Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM CST at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations in Shannon's memory may be made to the Darnell children's trust fund. Checks may be made out to Emily and/or Dillon Darnell.
