Max Groff Obituary

Max D. Groff, 62, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

Max was born April 8, 1954 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Irma (Schrader) Groff.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Tina (Groff) Watson of Vincennes, Indiana; her husband, Chad Watson; and two grandchildren, Cambrie and Caden Watson. His brother, Gary Groff and wife, Nancy of Greenville, South Carolina; niece, Lori (Groff) Gaillard of North Carolina; nephew, Jason Groff of Texas; and their spouses and children also survive.

Max graduated from Lawrenceville High School. He volunteered as an auctioneer in many states over the years and was also a member of the Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky Auctioneers Association. He spent his life working with equipment, farming, auctioneering, and owning his own business. He and his father owned and operated Groff Equipment and Auction for 50 plus years. He enjoyed his work and considered it a hobby, but most of all he loved taking his grandkids on tractor rides.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10:30 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM CST. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Max's memory may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
