Jack A. Gammie-Wilson, age 83, of Lawrenceville, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at United Methodist Village-North Campus. He was born November 5, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Harry and Helen Opal Abel Gammie. He married Barbara Pealer Dobbs on April 12, 1979 in Vincennes, Indiana. Jack graduated from State High School, Terre Haute, Indiana in 1947, and served honorably in the United States Army from 1949 to 1955. He was a graduate of Indiana State University with a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, and graduated from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis with a J.D. degree. Jack was a retired member of the Indiana Bar and a retired Professor Emeritus from Vincennes University. He served there as chairman of the paralegal program. Jack was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Preceding Jack in death were his parents, one brother, Harry Wayne Wilson, and the mother of his first three children Bette Myers Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Lawrenceville, IL; his children Chetta Wilson Owens (Roy) of Springtown, TX; Lazondra Wilson Dunlap of San Diego, CA; Geoffrey Wilson of Duchesne, UT; Eugene Dobbs (Jeanne) of Hebron, MD; Janne Dobbs Collins (Eric) of Harrington, DE, James Dobbs (Shay) of Lawrenceville, GA, Jill Dobbs Bryniarski (Joseph) of Bloomington, IN, Daniel Dobbs and Patrick Dobbs, both of Lawrenceville, GA; two brothers Harry Gammie of Reno, NV; Wayne Gammie of Walterville, OR; one sister Betty McCauley of Tucson, AZ; 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 12 Noon (CST) at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. Family and friends may gather from 4 to 6 PM CST Saturday at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to be conducted at 6 PM CST. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
