Earl Piper Obituary

Earl Edward Piper, 86, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born November 3, 1931 in Knox County, Indiana, the son of Lloyd B. and Daisy Edna (Norton) Piper. He married Janet Edwards on June 3, 1961 and she survives.

Earl farmed for 50 plus years with his brother, Don Piper. Piper Bros Farm received the Illinois Centennial award on October 10, 2003. He served eight years as the Lawrence County Township Road Commissioner, ten years on the Lawrence County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, 25 years on the Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District, and 11 years on the Lawrence County ASCS Committee. His memberships included the Edward Dobbins Lodge No. 164, Scottish Rite, Lawrence County Shrine Club for 50 plus years, Kentucky Colonel, an Elks Lifetime member, and the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. He served his country as a Korean Army Veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Lloyd Donald ‘Don' Piper; and one sister, Mary Louise Piper.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; one son, Roger Edward Piper, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one daughter, Becky Lyles and husband, Chris, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and one sister, Jean McKee of Sun City, Arizona.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in May Chapel with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Earl's memory may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society or the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville.
