Dixie Scherer Obituary

Dixie L. Scherer, 76, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born September 30, 1941 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Ira and Helen (Theriac) Eisenhut. She married Esco Daffron, Jr. on July 17, 1959 and he preceded her in death on February 9, 1983. She then married Robert Scherer on August 24, 1991 and he survives.

Dixie worked for Good Samaritan Hospital as a switch board operator and then later she worked for KCARC as an employment specialist. Dixie and her husband, Bob, owned and operated Dixie's Collectors Gallery. She attended the Beulah United Methodist Church; volunteered at the Sign of the Kingdom-West; and enjoyed gardening with her husband, bird watching, and walks with her dog. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; three daughters, Lori Jenkins and husband, Jerry, of Bruceville, Indiana, Michelle Daffron of Bridgeport, Illinois, and Gina Ellerman and husband, Mark, of Vincennes, Indiana; one step-son, Justin Scherer of Bridgeport, Illinois; one step-daughter, Stacey Andrews and husband, Chad, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Jack Eisenhut of Bridgeport, Illinois; one sister, Betty Crockett of Vincennes, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Nelson, Jacqueline Overton, Jordan Ellerman, Zackary Ellerman, Camille Kamp, Cailyn Andrews, Nicklaus Scherer, Maci Scherer, Laci Wirth, and Dallas Winkles; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild due in January.
