Carol Sue Gibson, of Key Largo FL, and Franklin, IN, formerly of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday October 4, 2015 at the Indiana Masonic Home Medical Center in Franklin, IN. Born April 17, 1932 in Lawrenceville, IL the daughter of Earl, and Jessie (Bass) Young. Preceding her in death were her parents, and Brother Marvin "Bud" Young of Albuquerque New Mexico. She Married Dale Gibson at the First Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, IL, on September 18, 1955, and he survives. They celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary this year. Other survivors include her special niece, Johnna Thompson, and nephews J.R. Thompson, of Lawrenceville, IL, Mark and Christopher Cunningham, of Lake St Louis, MO, Paul T. Hardway, of Springfield, IL. A 1950 graduate of LTHS, she graduated from the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing Vincennes, IN in 1954. Following her graduation she worked at the Lawrence County Hospital until moving to Indianapolis, IN as a RN at Methodist Hospital, and Marion General Hospital, Marion, IN. She retired from nursing when she and her husband were transferred to West Lafayette, IN in 1975 Carol Sue was most proud of providing funding for The Gibson Farm House, located at the new state park at Prophetstown State Park, Battle Ground, IN where she volunteered. She was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed all Big Ten sports at Purdue University, where she was a member of The John Purdue Club, Lafayette Country Club and St Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. For over forty five years she entertained friends from across the U.S. for an Indianapolis 500 party in her home. After moving to Key Largo FL, her favorite activities were boating, and fishing in the Florida Keys with her husband, and friends. She was Loved by All and will be dearly missed. Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday October 13 at the Indiana Masonic Home, Ransford Chapel, Franklin IN. Visitation at 1:00PM, and Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. Saturday, October 17, 2015, Memorial Services will be conducted at Emmons-Macy & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL at 2:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
