William Ford Obituary

William ‘Bill' D. Ford, age 79, of Flat Rock, Illinois passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born June 5, 1940 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of William E. and Ida (Kneppe) Ford. He married Jewel W. Rinsch Higgins on October 2, 1981 and she survives.

Bill was a welder for Texaco Refinery for 18 years and a millwright for Joule Construction for 15 plus years. He attended Birds Free Methodist Church. He loved gardening, fishing, bird watching, hunting; as well as spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Susie, Mollie, and Rosie.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Gary E. Ford; and one sister, Dora Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel; two sons, Doug Ford and wife, Tanya of Palestine, Illinois and Dennis Ford and wife, Kathy of Allen, Texas; one daughter, Sammi Ford of Vincennes, Indiana; two step-sons, Mike Higgins and Rick Higgins both of Logansport, Indiana; one sister, Frances Lemeron and husband, Richard of Flat Rock, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Ashley Gonzalez, Katie Herdes, Chris Ford, Alec Willis, Maddie Byers, Christy Russell, Mindy Campbell, and Evan Higgins; and six great-grandchildren, Jasmine Herdes, Averie Herdes, Jamison Russell, Jillian Russell, Bailey Homburg, and Ethan Homburg.

A service of remembrance will be conducted on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. The family requests casual dress. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society. A meal will be provided at the Birds Free Methodist Fellowship Hall on Friday at 2:00 PM for friends and family.
