Rose Marie (Buchanan) Jacobsen

Rose Marie (Buchanan) Jacobsen, age 59, formerly of Lawrence County, Illinois, passed away in her home in Desert Hot Springs, California on Friday, January 10, 2020. She was accompanied by her husband, Douglas Jacobsen and her four children, Brooke Kulp, Heather Blake, Abigail Jacobsen and John Mark Jacobsen as she passed away peacefully into the hands of her Savior.

She was born on April 25, 1960 in Vincennes, Indiana to Clement and Mina Buchanan.

She graduated from the Bridgeport Township High School in 1978, then went to Vincennes University.

On January 9, 1981 she was united in marriage to Douglas Jacobsen in Vincennes, Indiana. They lived in San Diego, California, where four children were born to them: Brooke, Heather, Abigail and John Mark.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clement Buchanan and a sister, Rebecca Jane.

Her mother, Mina Buchanan survives, living in Lawrence County, Illinois. Also surviving is her husband, William Douglas Jacobsen of Desert Hot Springs, California; two brothers, Douglas and Arthur Buchanan of St. Francisville, Illinois; two sisters, Joann Pascoe of Perth, Ontario and Eileen Adkins of Tehachapi, California. The oldest daughter, Brooke is married to Darren Kulp. They live in Tuscan Arizona and have two children. Heather is married to David Blake and they have four girls. They live in Pingree, Idaho. The daughter, Abigail and son, John Mark live near their father in Desert Hot Springs California.

Rose was a real rose, beautiful, sweet and kind to all who came into contact with her. Her quiet demeanor gave witness of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Her words were few, but powerful in persuasion. Though her family is now spread far from each other, they are very closely united in love to each other.

A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Buchanan Cemetery, following the service.
