Michael 'Scott' Carter Obituary

Michael ‘Scott’ Carter, age 65, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on September 12, 1954 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Doran A. and Betty (McKinney) Carter. He married Karen Hill on October 18, 1975 and she survives.

Scott worked for Lawrence Township as a park supervisor, and then for the City of Lawrenceville until his retirement in 2015.

Preceding him in death were his father, Doran and sister, Joyce Koster.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; mother, Betty of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one son, Bryan Carter and Alyssa Dickerson and their children, Jayna Carter, Morgan Carter, Bailey Carter, and Leila Sweeney of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and one daughter, Michelle Carter Wells and P.J. Devin and their children, Caitlyn Wells, Joshua Devin, and Peyton Devin of Lawrenceville, Illinois.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
