PHYLLIS MARIE (TIFFANY) DECKER PASSED PEACEFULLY JULY 13, 2012 @ LAWRENCE COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AFTER FIGHTING A COURAGEOUS BATTLE WITH CANCER. SHE WAS BORN AUGUST 19, 1937, THE 2ND CHILD OF RALPH NEWTON & NINA MARIE (PARKER) TIFFANY, WHO PRECEDED HER IN DEATH.

ONE SISTER, MARCI ELLEN AND ONE BROTHER, WALTER HENRY ALSO PRECEEDED HER IN DEATH.

SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER FAITHFUL HUSBBAND OF 53 PLUS YEARS WALLY DECKER – SIX CHILDREN – GARY (JULIE) – R. R. LAWRENCEVILLE, SHERYL (DANNY) FREDERICK - RURAL LAWRENCEVILLE, DAVID (KIM) – ROBINSON, IL. – RON (CARRIE) – RURAL LAWRENCEVILLE – DIANA (MICKEY) EMMONS – CARBONDALE, IL., AND DEBRA (SHAWN) TRINKLE – OAKTOWN, IN; TWO SISTERS MARILYN CLARK – INDIANAPOLIS, IN – MARGE (BILL) PAINTER, RURAL LAWRENCEVILLE; SISTER-IN-LAW ANNE (DENNY) PORTER – RURAL LAWRENCEVILLE; ELEVEN GRANDCHILDREN – JASON AND JENNIFER FREDERICK, JOE AND JAKE DECKER, ZACH AND ETHAN DECKER, JAELEIGH AND JORDAN DECKER, JESSICA EMMONS AND MAKENZIE AND PARKER TRINKLE; FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN –DAKOTA FREDERICK, ALLISON MENDENHALL, AIDEN AND JAYLYN DECKER - MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND A HOST OF DEAR FRIENDS.

GRANDSONS WILL SERVE AS PALLBEARERS.

PHYLLIS WAS A 1954 GRADUATE OF LTHS AND A 1958 GRADUATE FROM THE GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING AND WORKED MANY YEARS IN THAT PROFESSION –RETIRING AT THE AGE OF 70 FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT WHERE SHE WORKED WITH WOMEN AND INFANT CHILDREN (WIC).
THRU THE YEARS, HER LOVE FOR GOD AND PEOPLE WAS REFLECTED IN HER MANY HOURS OF VOLUNTEER WORK I.E., 4-H LEADER//ADVISER, FAIR BOARD MEMBER, SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER, VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL TEACHER – SHARING OF HER TIME, TALENT AND RESOURCES SHE TAUGHT MANY LIFE LESSONS. FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS HER PASSION WAS “THE SIGN OF THE KINGDOM” WHERE SHE WAS A FAITHFUL WORKER.
AFTER THE CLOSING OF BIRDS U.M. CHURCH, PHYLLIS BECAME AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE BIRDS FREE METHODIST CHURCH. SHE WAS ALSO AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE PRAIRIE MAIDS HOME EXTENSION, CLASS OF ’58 ALUMNI, AND A LONG TIME CARD CLUB MEMBER.
SHE LIVED THE LIFE OF THE PROVERBS WOMAN 7:31 – “AND HER CHILDREN RISE UP AND CALL HER BLESSED, HER HUSBAND ALSO”.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE MONDAY, July 16TH, 11:00 A.M. AT THE DECKER POND, LOCATED IN RURAL LAWRENCEVILLE, IL.

FRIENDS MAY CALL SUNDAY EVENING FROM 4:00 TO 7:00 PM AT THE EMMONS-MACEY & STEFFEY FUNERAL HOME LOCATED IN LAWRENCEVILLE,IL. FOLLOWING THE SERVICES ON MONDAY, FRIENDS ARE WELCOMED TO STAY AND SHARE IN A MEAL AT THE POND.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, PHYLLIS REQUESTED DONATIONS BE MADE IN HER MEMORY TO “THE SIGN OF THE KINGDOM” – LAWRENCEVILLE, IL.
