Sharon Earnst Obituary

Sharon B. Earnst, 73, of Sumner, Illinois passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born February 7, 1944 in Brushy, Missouri, the daughter of Irvin and Goldie (Woods) Chitwood. She married John J. Earnst on June 3, 1960 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1988.

Sharon was a CNA at Burgin Manor for several years; as well as a laundry aide at Richland Memorial Hospital and the United Methodist Village. She was a member of the Whitehouse Church.

Preceding her in death were parents; husband, John; and one brother, Gene Chitwood.

Survivors include four children, Molly Earnst of Sumner, Illinois, Brenda Hunt of Palestine, Illinois, Michael Earnst and wife, Kimberlee, of Billett, Illinois, and Christina Creech and husband, CJ, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two brothers, Thurman Chitwood and wife, Jean, of Cisne, Illinois and Dan Chitwood and wife, Wanda, of Sumner, Illinois; five sisters, Barbara Earnst and husband, Bill, of Bridgeport, Illinois, Glenna Christy and husband, Jim, of Dennison, Illinois, Dolly Propes and husband, Ed, of Olney, Illinois, Sandy Smith and husband, Joe, of St. Francisville, Illinois, and Kathy Foshee and husband, Jeff, of Friendsville, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Melody Ginder and husband, Mark, of Jasper, Indiana, Lacy Coats of Bridgeport, Illinois, Crystal Runyon and husband, Gary, of West Salem, Illinois, Nicholas Earnst and wife, Lindsay, of Robinson, Illinois, Samantha Hinderliter and husband, Seth, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and Caitlin, Carmen, Cody, and Carson Creech all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and seven great-grandchildren, Kassidy McBride, Keely Coats, Kinsey Carmichael, and Kolby Carmichael all of Bridgeport, Illinois, Tessa and Peyton Ginder of Jasper, Indiana, and Lucas Runyon of West Salem, Illinois.

Sharon's wishes were to be cremated with no formal services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fish and Loaves. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
