Betty J. Sager, 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the United Methodist Village-North Campus in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born November 11, 1936 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of James Franklin and Hallie Geneva (Peach) Heath. She married Roy Sager on July 28, 1962 and he preceded her in death in June of 2005.
Betty was a grocery store clerk at McKim's IGA and a cafeteria manager at a Florida high school. She also worked at Heath Western Auto in Lawrenceville, Illinois and Walt Disney World. She helped with local elections, sold baked goods at the farmers market, and was a Cub Scout den leader. She was a member of the 6th Street Wesleyan Church, where she was a song leader, youth leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, and one infant sister.
Survivors include her son, Mike Sager and wife, Robin, of Sumner, Illinois; three daughters, Kim Watkins and husband, Mark, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, April Newland and husband, Bill, of Vincennes, Indiana, and Debbie Visser and husband, Brad, of Longwood, Florida; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sumner City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's memory may be made to the United Methodist Village-North Campus.
